In the early morning hours of Wednesday, September third, Wardell Mack was arrested and booked into Travis County Jail at exactly one zero seven a.m. The young athlete faces a class B misdemeanor charge for driving while intoxicated under Texas state law.
According to official records, Mack remained in custody throughout Wednesday, unable to post the three thousand dollar bond that had been set for his release. As of just before five p.m. Central Time on Wednesday, the defensive back was still behind bars at the Travis County facility.
This arrest marks another legal challenge for Mack, who previously faced a charge for possession of a controlled substance. However, prosecutors ultimately rejected that earlier case, allowing him to continue his athletic pursuits.
The institution responded to the arrest with a measured statement, saying "We're aware of the situation with Wardell Mack. We will continue to monitor the legal process, and the situation will be handled internally at the appropriate time."
Despite this setback, coaching staff had previously expressed confidence in Mack's abilities on the field. Officials noted the depth at his position, stating "At that position, we've got some really cool options and we're fortunate, the guys that are in there right now with Graceson Littleson and Wardell Mack, they're both playing good football, but a lot of our safeties can go play that spot and Jaylon Guilbeau can go to that spot."
